What Smart Home Devices does Latch Support?

Latch supports specific models of Google Nest, Honeywell, and ecobee Smart Thermostats, select Jasco Light Switches, in addition to the Latch Hub and Leak Detector.

Please contact support@latch.com or your Latch Certified INstaller if you need specific information about which Smart Devices to purchase for integration with Latch. It’s important to ensure that you are purchasing supported devices as different models, even those from the same brand, may not be compatible.

Installing Nest Thermostats for use with Latch

Pre-Install Checklist:

  1. The HVAC technicians have confirmed that the HVAC system is compatible with the chosen thermostat.
  2. The HVAC system has been installed and tested by the HVAC technicians.
  3. The Google Nest HVAC wiring is complete, and the thermostat receives power.
  4. You have access to an Android smartphone with Location Services, and Bluetooth enabled.
  5. The property has been set up in Latch for Google Nest thermostats.
    • Latch Customer Success has completed Property Setup for Google Nest.
    • You or a Property Manager have added Units to the Property.

    • You can see the Property and Units where you will be provisioning the Nest thermostats.
  7. You have Wi-Fi or a Cellular Hotspot available to complete the provisioning process. You must have the password for the Wi-Fi network and the network must be broadcasting. The Nest Thermostat must be connected to Wi-Fi or a Cellular Hotspot to complete the installation. It does not have to remain connected to the same network that will be used in the future.

To provision a Google Nest thermostat for use with Latch:

  1. Open the Google Provisioning App. Ensure you agree to provide the app with access to Location Services, Bluetooth, and Camera permissions if prompted.
  2. Tap on the Property you want to provision the Nest thermostats for and tap Next.
  3. Tap the Unit you want to provision the current Nest thermostat to and tap Next.
  4. Tap Add Device at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Scan the QR code located on the rear of the Nest thermostat or in the Nest Settings.
    • A ring of dots will be shown on the Nest thermostat display. Keep your phone close to the Nest during this process.
    • If you receive an error message stating that you must stand closer to the device, check that you have Bluetooth and Location Services enabled and re-try. If the error persists, factory reset the Nest via the Settings menu and attempt provisioning once again.
  6. Connect the Nest thermostat to Wi-Fi or a Hotspot.
    • Choose the Wi-Fi/Hotspot network from the list displayed in the Google Nest Provisioning App.
    • Add the Password and tap Next.
  7. You can confirm that the provisioning process was successful when you see the 'Device Successfully Added' message in the app and the 'Your thermostat is now configured for use with your system' message on the Nest thermostat display.
  8. On the Nest thermostat display, you will be prompted to choose 'Test Now' or 'Test Later' to ensure the thermostat is properly controlling the HVAC system.

Reconnecting a Nest Thermostat to the Internet

If a Nest thermostat has a status of 'Disconnected' or 'Tap to Connect,' it has disconnected from the internet and must be reconnected. You will not be able to control the thermostat using the Latch App and the information available for display will be out of date or unavailable.

We recommend attempting to reconnect the thermostat to WiFi. If reconnecting the device to the network fails or it continues to fall offline, troubleshooting of the WiFi network is required.

To reconnect your Nest thermostat to WiFi:

  1. Open the Latch App.
  2. Find the residence Door and tap 'View Smart Devices.'
  3. Find and tap on the thermostat in the list of devices.
  4. Tap on the blue 'Tap Here to Connect' link.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the Nest thermostat to WiFi. Note: You will need to locate the thermostat where it is installed on the wall. If you have more than one thermostat, please ensure you have located the correct device.

To reconnect your Google Nest E or Nest Learning Thermostat to WiFi:

  1. Bring up the 'Quick View' menu.
  2. Go to 'Settings,' then 'Network.'
  3. Choose your Wi-Fi network name and enter your password if prompted.
  4. If you continue to experience trouble with reconnecting your Nest thermostat to WiFi, please contact Latch Support for further assistance.

If these steps are unsuccessful and assistance is needed, please reach out to our Customer Support team at Support@latch.com
